Virginia Beach Fishing Charter in the Chesapeake Bay

Chesapeake Bay Fishing Charter Sea Teaser Sport Fishing

The Chesapeake Bay has long been known for excellent fishing.  The Chesapeake is the United States' largest estuary, where salty waters of the Atlantic Ocean mix with the freshwater flow of the Susquehanna, Potomac, and Rappahannock rivers. The resulting brackish mix is ideal for species ranging from striped bass, bluefish, speckled  trout, red drum, flounder and so much more. The bay is approximately 200 miles long, stretching from Havre de Grace, Maryland, to Norfolk, Virginia and an average depth of 21 feet.

With 348 species of finfish and 173 species of shellfish, the Chesapeake Bay offers a wealth of sport fishing opportunities. There are Charter fishing boats operating throughout the Maryland and Virginia regions of the Bay. If you want to be assured of a good day of Chesapeake Bay fishing, taking a charter is a great option. Charter captains know where the fish are and how to catch them. They will provide the fishing tackle  bait, and ice for you so you can enjoy your day on the water!

We recently spoke with Captain Tyler Rowe of Sea Teaser Sport Fishing in Virginia Beach, Virginia about the 2021 fishing season.  Captain "T" told us during springtime in the Chesapeake Bay is the best time to target red, black and puppy drum. As the bay temperatures rise, so does the tautog catches in April. Flounder fishing also heats up in April.

If you are in the Virginia Beach area or plan to be visiting soon, please check out Sea Teaser's inshore fishing packages.  They range from half day (4 hours) to full day (8 hours) and evening trolls are popular as well.  You can check availability and pricing here
